A quarter million sparkling lights illuminate the Hotel Colorado bringing magical memories to thousands of visitors each holiday season. Themed, animated scenes fill each corner of the historic main floor. Guests may through “Colorado Mountain Christmas,” (showcasing a vintage 1893, one-horse-open sleigh) “The North Pole” (complete with a dancing Santa), and “Gingerbread Land” (featuring a life-sized, fresh-baked gingerbread adorned with 100,000 lights, many are energy saving, LED lights. Three giant trees span the hotel’s 6 stories, including 2 brightly lit trees illuminating the historic bell towers. This year, the courtyard will be filled with 60,000 LED lights.

Prior to each Christmas season, volunteers spend hundreds of hours designing and creating an enchanting wonderland that resonates through the halls of the Hotel Colorado.  A quarter million sparkling lights are placed in and around the Hotel.

For 20 years, Providence Hospitality team members have dedicated more than 2,000 volunteer hours each year. Workers bring a passion for the season, knowing that their efforts will touch thousands of visitors’ lives each season.  The tradition continues again this year in the spirit of giving.
The holiday festivities include a yearly courtyard lighting ceremony with complimentary hot beverages and cookies.  Roving carolers in Victorian garb sing traditional holiday hymns.  A special guest of honor leads the countdown to flip the switch illuminating the sparkling light display. Then, fireworks fill the sky to announce the official start of the holiday season.  Santa Claus sits on his red velvet throne listening to children’s wishes.
The Lighting Ceremony takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving every year.
