Providence Hospitality Partners to operate Greeley hotel

Providence Hospitality Partners chosen to operate downtown Greeley hotel

GREELEY — Denver-based Providence Hospitality Partners has been hired to operate the Lincoln Park Hotel & Conference Center in downtown Greeley that is being developed by a group of prominent Greeley businessmen.

A ground-breaking ceremony is being planned for April 12 for the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, according to Scott Ehrlich, spokesman for the investment group, of which he is a member.

Providence Hospitality Partners, led by chief executive David Storm, operates hotel brands including Starwood, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Hilton Hotels, Radisson and Relais & Chateaux.

Its operating experience has ranged from a 42-unit boutique hotel in San Francisco to an 1,100-room, 2,200-acre themed resort in the Carolinas.

In Colorado, Providence operates Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs.

The hotel at 919 Seventh St. will be built on property owned by the city of Greeley. Plans call for 147 rooms and suites in a six-story structure on the east half of the property, which also includes a pool and a full-service restaurant. That tower structure is attached to the convention center, which anchors the west side of the property and faces the city’s 1700-seat Union Colony Civic Center, a performance hall. The conference center will have 14,000 square feet of meeting space, which includes a 12,000-square-foot ballroom.

The structure will be a blend of different brick materials and stucco, and will feature a glass curtain around the main floor, with a prominent view and relationship to the city’s adjacent historic Lincoln Park.

The development/ownership group behind the project is made up of Ehrlich, a longtime auto dealer in Greeley; brothers Dick and Charlie Monfort, owners of the Colorado Rockies; Bob Tointon, a longtime property owner; the Richardson family and others.

Ehrlich on Wednesday said negotiations with the city are still ongoing, and he hopes meeting with lawyers will be done in time for the Greeley City Council to vote on approving the agreement at its April 5 regular meeting.

“There are a few more hurdles to clear, but it appears this will be done. … I don’t want to get the cart before the horse,” Ehrlich said.

Greeley-based Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has been working on design options and costs for the hotel and conference center while negotiating for the construction contract to build the project, which initially was estimated to cost about $20 million.

Hensel Phelps represents the developer/ownership group that will own and operate the hotel.

Hensel Phelps has been the city’s point of contact relative to the developers’ response to the city’s earlier request for proposal, site design and financial negotiations.

Hiring Hensel Phelps to serve as general contractor for the hotel/conference center is at the discretion of the ownership group, Greeley’s assistant city manager Becky Safarik said.

Today, The Point continues the tradition of honoring guests with its unique combination of warm hospitality, privacy and utter comfort.

Eleven distinctive guestrooms are spread among the four original log buildings of The Point. Each has a broad lake view, a huge, hand-built bed and a sumptuous private bath, often with the camp's original brass or chrome fixtures.

The goal of each 1883 Hospitality operated hotel is to transport our guests to another place and another time, a gentler time, of gracious hospitality, respect and genuine concern.

This is, in part, accomplished by the development of a comprehensive Costuming Program. Each costume reflects the uniqueness and heritage of the individual hotel and its surrounding area.

There are hundreds of details that collectively create the one-of-a-kind,
historic hotel experience, and it starts with the costumes.

Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach executive chef receives top honor

Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach Executive Chef Receives Top Honor

Luis Martinez, executive chef at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach

(CAMARILLO, Calif.) - “Melt in your mouth” short ribs created by Luis Martinez, executive chef at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach, wowed the judges over the past weekend and took top honors at the Casa Pacifica Angels Wine and Food Festival’s culinary competition.

On Sunday, June 3, Martinez competed against chefs from 30 different central coast restaurants, caterers and bakeries in the festival’s annual “Yummies Competition.” In the end, a panel of celebrity judges that included “Top Chef” seasons five and eight participant Fabio Viviani and “MasterChef” season two runner-up Adrien Nieto deemed Martinez’s tender short ribs in a reduction of cabernet wine and natural juices to be the tastiest dish in the competition and awarded him the first place trophy.

"he Central Coast is home to so many wonderfully creative and talented chefs,” said Martinez. “It is especially gratifying to win the top prize when competing against such stiff competition.”

Martinez, who arrived on the Ventura County culinary scene nine months ago, has a long history in the hotel culinary industry. For more than 21 years, Martinez served as the executive chef for premier hotels in the U.S. including J.W. Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Marriott Hotels and Resorts.

In addition, Martinez has won numerous culinary excellence awards and has served on the faculty of Riverside City College’s Culinary Academy where he taught international cuisine and culinary history.

At the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach, Martinez has helped revamp the menu at the hotel’s award-winning C Street restaurant to include olive oil poached halibut, chipotle BBQ roasted salmon, C-Street braised short ribs, coconut crusted fried calamari and ahi tuna tartare.

The Casa Pacifica Wine and Food Festival attracts about 4,000 people each year and raises nearly $300,000 for the non-profit’s array of programming for abused and neglected children and adolescents.

Providence Hospitality Partners management group and Clean the World means countless lives saved

Providence Hospitality Partners based in Colorado, Providence Hospitality Partners is a prestigious management company composed of various beautiful properties with a common goal, “forge a legacy of corporate excellence and social responsibility”.

Providence has been recognized by Forbes Magazine for its 5-star properties and has a reputation for outstanding service. Clean the World is grateful to have the support of Providence in our mission to save lives with soap. The partnership between Providence Hospitality Partners management group and Clean the World means countless lives saved with recycled soap and bottled hygiene amenities.

Unlike most hotels, Providence offers a unique, historical twist to the guest experience. The company has a program called “1883 Hospitality” which takes guests back in time to the late 1800’s for the duration of their stay on select Providence properties.

Employees dress in time-appropriate costumes, also taking into account the historical heritage of the surrounding area and place great emphasis on gracious hospitality, respect and genuine concern for the wellbeing of guests. From the moment customers pull up to the property to the last moments of their stay, guests are lead through a time warp to almost 150 years in the past. Details like this set Providence hotels apart from others and create a memorable experience for those involved.

Providence Hospitality Partners work to create a sustainable future and preserve the environment by actively participating in Clean the World’s Hospitality Program. Room attendants collect all used soaps and bottled amenities after each guest’s stay. These materials are stored in recycling bins provided by Clean the World before being shipped off to one of our recycling facilities.

These bars of soap and bottled amenities are continuously being diverted from landfills and going to the people who need these hygiene necessities the most. Providence has contributed to the distribution of over 2,000 bars of soap through its partnership with Clean the World.

Every bar of soap promotes a healthier lifestyle and wards off preventable diseases that often result in death for children and families that lack the necessary resources to stay clean and well.

With eclectic offerings and sustainable practices, you can be sure Providence Hospitality properties are at the forefront of guest experience. With each stay, you can know you are doing good in the lives of others around the globe while also preserving our precious ecosystem.
